The fun never ends with this rechargeable universal remote with an easy-to-read color screen.

Rechargeable
Your rechargeable remote can go a week between charges. You won't be looking for batteries when you want to be watching TV.

Color screen
You'll see just what you need, like icons for your favorite channels as well as the commands you need for the devices you're using. The smart display can even provide help if you need it.

One-click activity buttons
No more complicated lists of what to turn on or which button to select. Once you're set up, you just select what you want to do-such as "Watch a DVD"-and your Harmony does the rest.

Replaces six remotes
It's easy to say goodbye to that jumble of remotes on the coffee table.

Guided online setup
You connect your remote to your computer and tell us what equipment you have. Then sit back and let our online software walk you through every step of the setup process.

Live support
If you have any questions, Harmony customer support is ready to help.

Constantly updated device database
Whether you have an aging VCR or a brand new Blu-ray player, you can be confident your Harmony remote will control the devices you have today and the ones you add tomorrow.

Intuitive design
Buttons are grouped by how you use them, shaped so you can feel your way around, and backlit-so you always know where you are.

5 out of 5 stars Everything I expected   July 31, 2010
We Myones (Scottsdale, AZ)
After upgrading my audio equipment I had to many remotes
on the coffee table. The Harmony 700 works as advertised.
After a couple tries at programing it works as advertised. I highly
recommend.

4 out of 5 stars Switching from Harmony 880   July 27, 2010
J. Leigh (chicago)
My 880 finally reached a point of total uselessness after just a few years. Some of the buttons began to lose conductivity so I had to reprogram other buttons to compensate, the recharge contacts failed, and eventually the entire dock failed.

So I decided I wasn't going to suffer through that again but sadly Harmony is the only game in town. Rather than blow another fortune on a new equivalent Harmony I decided to try something less pricey- i.e. the 700.

Pros:

- Replacing the Harmony was incredibly simple. Harmony's software lets you transfer everything from the 880 to the 700 with the click of one button. The whole process from unpacking the box to watching TV took about 15 minutes.

- Since it is now recharged with a USB cable, I hopefully will no longer suffer the problems I have been having with the dock.

- And since the rechargeable are AA NIMH's I can easily replace those if needed.

Cons:

- I cannot change the order of the Activities. So I can't order in terms of how frequently I use a certain Activity. Instead they provide two hard buttons which you can program to serve that purpose. Then you use the buttons adjacent the LCD display to show the remaining. I suppose that makes sense from an ergonomic point of view- let the unit be smart so the consumer doesn't have to think about those issues.

- The recharging USB cable uses a micro-B connector, so you should probably order an extra one if you want to save yourself the trouble of having to disconnect the one from the power supply to connect to your computer. But I suppose that's not really too inconvenient since you will very rarely need to connect to your computer once the unit is set up.

On the whole my experience with this unit has been very good. Hopefully it will last longer than my 880 did.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to set up and use   July 25, 2010
D. A. Scelza
I purchased this device to replace a worn out control that was original equipment with the receiver. I run all streams, audio & video, through the receiver and use the TV as a basic display. The Logitech software made setting up the devices and connection very easy. Things were mostly working after my first attempt and it only took a little tweaking for specific devices to get them working correctly. The remote itself is very easy to use and fits the hand well. When picking your remote be sure to get one that handles enough devices. I didn't count as carefully as I should have and am now at the limit.

5 out of 5 stars one remote   July 19, 2010
Jason Glendowne
I had the Harmony 880 for 4 years and i mine finally succumbed to button failure. I choose the 700 due to price and I only have 5 devices (6 max on the 700). I do miss the 8 soft keys on the LCD screen the 880 had vs the 4 the 700 has, but I have adapted to the colored keys well. I think the button layout is better on the 700 now that I am used to it. And the rubber buttons are far better to find in the dark than the surface level buttons of the.

Migrating from a harmony remote to another is really painless, plug in, open the app, click the new device link and it copies everything over.

Pro's:
Raised rubberized buttons
Harmony software
Includes Eneloop rechargable AA batteries

Con's:
New micro usb connection if more fragile than previous mini usb connection
Device limitation

4 out of 5 stars Replacement for older 880   July 9, 2010
Eddie (New York)
This is my second Harmony. I had the 880 previously, but didn't want to spend that much this time. So I got the 700. It's cheaper and so far (I've had it a few days), I like it better. The buttons on the 880 were better placed, and the 880 fit my hand better, but even though the screen lit up, I couldn't read the buttons in the dark. I had to turn on the light every time I used it; and my bedroom lamp has a low voltage flourescent bulb that takes a while to fully brighten. So that was a real pain. This one, I can read all the controls easily in the dark. It controls everything exactly like my old one did. And setup was a breeze. It took all of 5 minutes. I already had a Harmony account with Logitech, so I just logged in and transferred all the old settings to the new remote. I like that fact that it doesn't need the cradle. Now, I can leave it on my bed side table if I want, or put it away. I have the choice. Of course, the batteries will probably need replaceing more often, since they're just rechargable AAs, but not too often, and they'll be cheap. So, all in all, I'm happier with this one than my old one, and it cost considerably less. Win/win.
