Good Mount for Toshiba 40" HDTV September 7, 2010 Pierce Duodenum (Flint, MI USA) I can add little, but corroborate much, from previous reviews for this product. Some quick thoughts:
1. This item was a bargain compared to the offerings of big box retailers. I've learned comparison shopping for HDTV peripherals (e.g., this mount, cabling), will save you a lot of money.
2. Construction is indeed excellent. Once installed properly, you will not be concerned about product failure.
3. Once you locate studs, installation is easy. Took me about an hour, but I was extra pokey. A socket wrench with a ratchet attachment will make setting the lag bolts a lot easier.
Easy to mount a 56" Samsung LCD July 25, 2010 Whitewolf (West Chester, PA, USA) The biggest problem I had was finding the studs in the wall. Once that was out of the way the entire mounting process probably took an hour. Keep in mind that I had to remove the stand from the TV and prepare all the wires. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. TV was so easy to hang on the bracket that I didn't believe it was on there.
One note is that the bolts to hold the bracket on the wall are huge. I used an 18v drill with a 1/2 inch socket attachment and it still had some trouble getting the bolts all the way in.
Over all a pretty easy install, though.
Great Mount July 19, 2010 Gonzalez107 Got this mount for my Panasonic 50" plasma. Easy to install and the low profile is great. I set my wires behind the wall and there was enough room to set in the cords in the Tv without having to bend anything. The only regret I have is not getting a tilting Tv mount! But if u know where exactly where u want it and and if you are buying a plasma you can view from any angle!
Solid Piece of Equipment at the Right Price July 9, 2010 HoustonSpace (Houston, TX USA) I purchased this item about two weeks ago and so far I have been pretty happy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the kit was not made from cheaply-stamped-out sheet metal, but instead seems like solid die-cast steel with smooth edges. I was expecting something a lot more flimsy for the money I was spending.
Installation was pretty simple, but I really recommend you have the tools to do it. that would include a tape measure, a drill, a socket set with a 1/2 inch socket, a stud-finder, a level, and a couple of differently-sized Phillips head screwdrivers - medium to large.
Tip: My tried-and true recommendation is to get an old stick candle, or some bar soap (preferably cheap ivory brand, or a spare hotel bar of soap (don't use liquid soap, it should be a solid a room temperature)). After you drill the holes for the mount, take the screws and run all the threads over the soap or wax. This simple process makes ratcheting those screws into the studs much easier.
After installation, make sure it's level. you don't want your TV to slowly slide off the mount!
After I added the brackets to the TV itself, it was really easy to place right on the wall mount. My studs were off-center, but the wall mount is large enough to slide the TV such that it could be perfectly-centered on the wall.
There were some extra hardware leftover - two extra screws and washers (no place to use them on my wall), and it even came with hardware to mount it to brick or concrete. It also came with cylindrical spacers in case you wanted the TV a little further away from the wall.
I put off getting this for almost a year, but I'm really happy I finally got around to it.
Solid, easy to assemble, and inexpensive June 25, 2010 BVH I was completely satisfied with this choice. I saw wall mounts for much more money, but this really fits the bill if you just need a TV mounted flat against the wall. Most importantly, it was simple to assemble, even for a mechanical idiot like me. Hint... a stud finder will come in handy!
